Macpherson: Contradictions in Expropriation Act 'resolvable'
Updated | By Bulletin / Jacaranda FM
Public Works and Infrastructure Minister Dean Macpherson has told the annual Nampo agricultural show in Bothaville that the contradictions in the Expropriation Act “are resolvable”.

The legislation governs the process by which the government can expropriate property from individuals or entities for public purposes or in the public interest.
Speaking at a panel discussion on the implications of the Expropriation Act on Thursday, Macpherson debunked claims of land confiscation and genocide of white farmers.
“ My job as the minister is to try and provide resolutions to the concerns that parties have, and then to make sure that we have a regulatory framework that works parallel to the act to ensure that any other issues around any other further definitions or processes are clearly spelt out,” he said.
Macpherson comes amid a move by the United States to resettle a group of white Afrikaners that President Donald Trump claims are facing "persecution" in South Africa.
The US administration has torn into the expropriation law, claiming it would allow the government to seize white-owned land.
Macpherson is a member of the Democratic Alliance, which is challenging the Expropriation Act in court, arguing it is unconstitutional.
The DA seeks to nullify the Act, claiming it is vague, contradictory, and potentially used for political manipulation.
