Magashule denies 'widening scope' of ANC's step-aside resolution

African National Congress (ANC) secretary-general Ace Magashule has denied attempting to change the party's step-aside resolution in any way.

Earlier this week, Magashule made a call to party members where he was accused of amending last month’s NEC resolution.
In addition to calling for names of those charged with corruption, Magashule called for provincial secretaries to include those alleged to be involved in corrupt practices.
But Magahsule said on Thursday this was always the case.
"I'm not widening anything. I'm talking about the conference resolutions," Magashule said, speaking outside former president Jacob Zuma's home in Nkandla.
"It's resolutions of the national conference plus the resolutions of the NEC."
The meeting with Zuma formed part of a series of consultations Magashule will have with former party leaders about the ANC’s step-aside rule.
"Generally, we were discussing the party because remember the step-aside is not about Ace Magashule," he said.
"I hear people want to talk about those that are charged, and we refer them to the resolution of Nasrec.
“There are nine points under the resolution - those charged, those alleged, those reported to have been and considering all the things in terms of the law, the South African Constitution, the ANC constitution."

Magahsule described the engagement with Zuma as fruitful.
"It was wonderful. You can see I'm so fresh, I'm jumping like a tennis ball up and down," Magashule joked.
"I'm happy. This was a wonderful meeting."
The meeting comes a day after Zuma snubbed the Constitutional Court again where he refused to mete out his own punishment, should he be found guilty of being in contempt of court.
