Man arrested for rape of Modimolle boy (8)

The police in Limpopo have arrested a 34-year-old man in connection with the rape of an 8-year-old boy in Modimolle.

The man was arrested after the police received a complaint last month from the principal of a local primary school in Modimolle.
The school was concerned about the pupil’s living conditions.
The situation failed to improve even after the mother of the Grade 1 pupil was confronted, prompting the school to move the child to a children's home in Modimolle.
Police spokesperson Malesela Ledwaba said the minor was later taken for medical examination after showing symptoms of sexual abuse.
The sexual assaults are believed to have taken place between June 2022 and May 2023.
"On Tuesday, police further conducted a forensic assessment that proved beyond reasonable doubt that the child was raped on several occasions during the said period.
"Police investigations immediately commenced, and a 34-year-old male suspect was nabbed in Modimolle policing precinct in connection with the rape of the boy," said Ledwaba
The suspect is expected to appear before the Modimolle Magistrate Court on Thursday.
