A 35-year-old man has appeared in court for allegedly distributing pornographic images with overlaid images of President Cyril Ramaphosa, Police Minister Bheki Cele and Cele’s wife.

Scebi Nene made his first appearance in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.
Nene was arrested by the Hawks on Sunday for contravening the Cyber Crime Act.
Hawks spokesperson Philani Nkwalase says the investigation into the matter started earlier this month after the images were distributed to police officers and members of the public on social media platforms.
Meanwhile, NPA regional spokesperson Lumka Mahanjana says the matter has been transferred to the Pietermaritzburg Magistrate’s Court for his appearance on 30 May.
