Police spokesperson, Mavela Masondo, says the woman was driving on the corner of Cedar Road and Cedar Avenue West, when she was approached by a man who shot at her.
Masondo says the woman was later taken to a nearby hospital in a serious condition.
"The suspect (the man) was found inside his car with a gunshot wound in the upper body.
"It is suspected that he committed suicide. It's also reported that the suspect and the victim were in a relationship.
The motive is still unknown, but a case of attempted murder has been opened.
