Man nabbed for murder of Free State cops

The Hawks have arrested a suspect in connection with the murder of two police officers in Phuthaditjhaba, Free State.

The officers were gunned down while responding to a house robbery on Saturday.
Constable Sipho Mohapi and Constable Gedione Motloung, who were attached to Namahadi Police Station will be laid to rest this week.
The suspect, who is in the country illegally, was nabbed on Wednesday while on horseback near the Monontsha border post, attempting to flee back to Lesotho.
Hawks spokesperson Katlego Mogale said two more suspects are on the run.
"The suspect was found in possession of a cell phone stolen during the robbery and a firearm suspected to have been used during the murders.”
The suspect is expected to appear in the Phuthaditjhaba Magistrates Court on Friday, facing charges of murder, attempted murder, and robbery.
