Mbolekwa family to sue WSU over son’s death
Updated | By Mmangaliso Khumalo
Mbolekwa, a student at the university, was allegedly shot and killed by residence manager Manelisi Mampana during the protest.

The university has since launched a commission of inquiry into the incident.
Speaking to SABC News, family spokesperson Ncendo Kolanisi said the lawsuit would seek damages for pain and suffering, financial loss, and other related expenses.
"In this loss of life, you must also remember that in the Bantu culture, a child that goes to university then becomes a future breadwinner, of which now the family has lost future possible loss of earnings."
He added that the tragedy has worsened the chronic illness of Sisonke’s mother, and placed a financial burden on the family, that must now travel frequently between Matatiele and Mthatha to attend court proceedings.
Both of Sisonke’s parents will be listed as claimants in the lawsuit.
Meanwhile, Mampana remains in police custody as his bail application is still ongoing before the East London Magistrate's Court.
