Mchunu accepts, supports Ramaphosa's decision

Police Minister Senzo Mchunu says he has accepted and is supporting President Cyril Ramaphosa's decision to place him on a leave of absence amid ongoing investigations into the allegations made against him by the KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi.

Addressing the nation on Sunday evening, Ramaphosa also announced that Mchunu would be placed on leave whole a Judicial Commission of Inquiry investigates the explosive allegations.
Mkhwanazi alleged Mchunu received payments from a corruption suspect and played a role in dismantling the team investigating political killings to shield politically connected individuals.
Last week, Mchunu rejected the allegations as "insinuations made without evidence or due process”.
In a statement released after Ramaphosa's address to the nation on Sunday evening, Mchunu welcomed and respected the President's decision.
