Metro police officer arrested for Hatfield shooting

A Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) officer has been arrested following a shooting in Hatfield, Pretoria this morning.

A man was shot and killed in his car in Grosvenor Street.
TMPD spokesperson Isaac Mahamba says the officer is being kept in custody at a local police station.
"It is not yet clear what transpired. The South African Police Service (SAPS) is handling the matter and they are still investigating," says Mahamba.
Mahamba says the TMPD's Internal Affairs unit will also investigate the matter.
"They will also cooperate fully with the SAPS on the investigation. We appeal to the members of the public who might have witnessed the incident to contact SAPS or TMPD," says Mahamba.
