Mkhwebane refers Abramjee messages to JSC, Hawks

Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane has referred the Ismail Abramjee text message to the Justice Service Commission and the Hawks for investigation.

This after Mkhwebane conducted a preliminary investigation into Abramjee’s text message claiming to have it "on good authority" that the Constitutional Court would dismiss her rescission case.
The SMS was leaked to the media before the court ruled on the matter.
Mkhwebane released a number of investigation reports during a media briefing in Pretoria on Tuesday.
She told the media that preliminary investigation revealed 18 calls exchanged between Abramjee and a number registered under the name of Justice Jody Kollapen.
"These calls were exchanged between 4 January 2022 and 22 April 2022, two days before Advocate [Andrew] Breitenbach SC received the controversial SMS. The shortest call lasted three seconds while the longest took 436 seconds or just over seven minutes," she said.
Chief Justice Raymond Zondo confirmed a week ago that his office is also investigating the allegations.
