MKMVA to continue operating in spite of order to disband - Niehaus
Updated | By Jacaranda FM News
Umkhonto we Sizwe Military Veterans Association (MKMVA) has expressed its disappointment at the meeting it held with the African National Congress (ANC) leadership on Monday morning.

MKMVA's Carl Niehaus says the meeting with the ANC leadership was meant to get clarity on the future of the veteran’s association.
"We were simply told by the president of the ANC that the decision was to disband the Umkhonto we Sizwe Military Veterans Association and the parallel structure of Umkhonto national council.
"When we wanted to get further information, the national chairperson ANC Gwede Mantashe refused for such information to be provided to us. He simply said that it is a decision we have to take.
"Now this is the kind of behaviour that comes from dictatorship and unacceptable.”
Niehaus says the association will not disband and will continue with its mandate.
"So we will proceed to exist as the Umkhonto we Sizwe Military Veterans Association, we will proceed to carry the mandate that we received from the national conference and we will continue to improve the conditions of our long-suffering members who have been treated poorly.”
