Mokonyane accuses Agrizzi of being driven by hatred of women

Former Environmental Affairs Minister Nomvula Mokonyane believes that former Bosasa COO Angelo Agrizzi’s actions are motivated by hate and racism.

Mokonyane took the stand at the commission of inquiry into state capture on Monday to respond to allegations made against her by Agrizzi.
Agrizzi told the commission that Mokonyane had received cash payments and that the controversial security management company paid for upgrades at her home.
He also alleged that the former minister received R50 000 a month in cash from Bosasa as well as gifts, including meat and alcohol for her family.
But on Monday Mokonyane refuted the allegations against her.

She told the commission’s chair, Deputy Chief Justice Raymond Zondo, that the securityupgrades to her home were provided by the state and her husband.
She remained steadfast, even when shown witness statements from Agrizzi saying they had been inside her house.
She said Agrizzi’s testimony was in all probability based on word-of-mouth from other people who had visited her home.
"At no point, my husband indicated that those activities were provided by the state and even now there is no evidence of those renovations.
"Mr Agrizzi never visited my home in my presence. He might have, but I deny that's he was at my home with my presence. He may have met with my husband or other people," Mokonyane said.
Mokonyane also labelled Agrizzi a political opportunist.
"He played to the political gallery and was opportunistic because he saw high tensions in the ANC. It's hatred, it's misogyny, it's racism, it's character assassination and it's opportunism."
