Mokonyane denies wrongdoing at State Capture Commission

Former Environmental Affairs Minister, Nomvula Mokonyane has denied all allegations levelled against her by former Bosasa COO, Angelo Agrizzi.

Mokonyane took the stand on Monday morning at the commission to respond to allegations against her by the former Bosasa COO.
Agrizzi alleged that Mokonaye had received cash payments and that the company paid for upgrades at her home.
Mokonyane called Agrizzi's testimony defamatory and insensitive.

"I find that they seem to be an act of desperation for reasons that are better known of Mr Agrizzi to discredit me, destroy the little of what remains of my character and my family," Mokonyane said.
She accused Agrizzi of using the commission to further his own agenda.
"I wish and pray that Mr Agrizzi out of his own conscience can refrain from using this commission in a manner that shows a sense of desperation and destruction of people’s characters for motives better known by him," she said.
During her testimony, Mokonye denied claims by Agrizzi that she had her 50th birthday party in Krugersdorp.
"Once more this is a false assertion. I turned 50 in 2013. My 50th birthday was hosted at Silverstar Casino in Krugersdorp," she said.
Agrizzi also claimed that at the end every year he was tasked by Watson to buy the Mokonaye family's Christmas groceries.
This would allegedly include 120 cases of cold drink, four cases of whisky, eight lambs, 12 cases of frozen chicken, 200kg of beef, and 40 cases of beer.
Mokonyane said she does not have the capacity to store the volumes of food mentioned.
"I don't have the capacity to store these volumes that Mr Agrizzi is referring to. I have never benefited nor received any goods to the benefit of my family,” she insisted.
"I have been employed and those who know post-December 16, my family closes off. We go on holiday. We come back on December 30 to be with my family.”
"I have never received anything that Mr Agrizzi is stating. We all know in a house like this, one cannot have storage to keep these items. Nor do I have space to keep these items," Mokonyane said.
