More violence as Slovo Park residents split over protest
Updated | By Masechaba Sefularo
Divisions among protesting Slovo Park residents have resulted in sporadic violence by a breakaway group that refused to back down from the violent service delivery protest that began on Monday.

One person was reported to have died on Tuesday during an exchange between angry community members and police who tried to disperse the crowd.
Following a brief meeting at the local community hall on Wednesday, tensions arose between protestors and community leaders following a call calm until 4pm on Wednesday.
This was when the leaders expected to provide an update on the community’s demands for water and sanitation.
Traffic was disrupted at various points of the N12 highway after one person pelted stones at vehicles.
Police fired rubber bullets and stun grenades at the small crowd that egged on the brazen stone-thrower who appeared to be targeting trucks
Earlier, the group set tyres alight but failed to barricade the highway.
Police in the area remain on high alert.
