A 30-year-old woman from Gauteng has been reunited with her family after she was kidnapped by three suspects who pretended to be police officers.

It is alleged that the woman was kidnapped by the suspects from her home in Atteridgeville in the west of Tshwane on Tuesday.
Police spokesperson Athlenda Mathe says police managed to get a lead when the kidnappers made contact with her brother a few hours later, demanding a ransom.
“Immediately after the report was made, police and the multidisciplinary team assembled and mobilised the 72-hour Activation Plan.
“In the meantime the victim's car was found by a vehicle tracking company.”

Mathe says further leads led police to a shack in Klipgat in the neighbouring North West, where the woman was rescued unharmed.
“The multidisciplinary team intensified its efforts and followed up on several leads and just after midnight the victim was found under guard by one of her kidnappers in a shack in Klipgat.
“The victim was immediately rescued and taken for counselling and debriefing by the SAPS hostage negotiators.
“A 27-year-old male was arrested and police are still on a manhunt for his accomplices,” adds Mathe
Police are still on the search for two other accomplices.
