An off-duty Mpumalanga police officer was killed during what is believed to have been a dispute over his missing cell phone in Kamhlushwa.

The 34-year-old constable was at a tavern over the weekend when his cell phone went missing. The cop later returned to the establishment with a firearm, and a quarrel broke out.
The officer and another man were killed in a shoot-out, while two other people were wounded.
The deceased constable has been identified as Richard Thando Thani.
The suspect, Leonard Manzini (37), appeared in the Nkomazi Magistrate's Court in Tonga on Tuesday.
The case was postponed to 5 August for a formal bail application.
"The other two male persons who sustained some injuries during the incident were taken for medical treatment," said police spokesperson Donald Mdhluli.
"A state firearm, which is believed to have been used during the incident, was also recovered at the scene. The man was charged with two counts of murder as well as two counts of attempted murder, leading to his court appearance today.”
