Mpumalanga MEC to visit Emalahleni school after ‘racial fight’
A video of a fight between pupils at Witbank Technical High School in Emalahleni has gone viral.
The Department of Education in Mpumalanga says its concerned there might have been a racial element to the fight.
"This conduct by some of the learners at this school is condemned with the most severity it deserves,” says the province’s Education MEC Bonakele Majuba.
“A school is a place where teaching and learning must reign supreme within an environment that is at all times safe and free from any form of intimidation, violence and abuse of whatever form.
“This needs to happen where the well-being of all learners is always be prioritised.”
Majuba will visit the school on Thursday to establish the circumstances which led to the fight.
