Mpumalanga nature reserves reopen after 2-week labour dispute

Nature reserves across Mpumalanga have reopened after a 2-week closure due to a labour dispute at the Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency.

Workers affiliated to the National Education, Health and Allied Workers' Union (Nehawu) downed tools at the start of the month over the placement of employees, especially those acting in management positions.
They demanded that the filling of the recently advertised senior management positions to be halted in favour of the placement.
Agency spokesperson Kholofelo Nkambule says she's confident the workers grievances have been addressed.
"The MTPA together with the Provincial Leadership of NEHAWU will today sign an agreement which will see all issues raised since the beginning of the industrial action being addressed.
"We are confident that the work currently underway by the Joint Task Team will be concluded and we will implement the agreement that we will be signing accordingly," she adds.
Nkambule adds the agency is delighted to welcome back sightseers.
"Our nature reserves are now open for business and tourists will now be able to enjoy their stay without interruption.
