The 17-year-old was allegedly gang-raped by seven men on Friday in the Bambamatches area.
It is understood that the owner of the salon went to fetch food from his home nearby, leaving the customer alone.
While in the salon, a group of seven suspects stormed in and dragged her out - and sexually assaulted her.
"The victim alleged that the men dragged her into a room adjacent to the salon, where they took turns raping her throughout the night," said police spokesperson Jabu Ndubane.
"She further stated that she was rescued the following day by a good Samaritan, who opened the door for her. By then, the suspects had fled the scene."
Police nabbed one of the suspects on Monday, the other six suspects are still at large.
The 20-year-old suspect who is a Mozambican national appeared in the Bushbuckridge Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, where he was remanded in custody.
"Investigations have also revealed that the suspect is a Mozambican national, and authorities are working in collaboration with officials from the Department of Home and he could possibly be charged for contravention of the Immigration Act of South Africa" he added
