Murder case against TMPD officer postponed

The murder case against a Tshwane Metro Police officer has been postponed in the Pretoria Magistrate's Court.

The officer, 26 year-old Constable Takatso Mashego, was arrested for allegedly shooting and killing a man in his car near the Gautrain station in Hatfield on Friday.
Mashego's legal respresentative, Peter Jay, says he will apply for bail on Friday.
"There was without a doubt a lot of provocation. My client told me that he was bumped by the deceased's vehicle twice and that he has not received any medical attention yet," says Jay.
Several of Mashego's colleagues attended court proceedings, with some believed to have been on duty.
TMPD spokesperson Isaac Mahamba says this will be looked into.
"We will verify with their managers whether they were on duty or off duty. If they were on duty, we will have to get official verification why they were here," says Mahamba.
