Ndlozi confirms EFF suspension over MK defection allegations

Former Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) Member of Parliament (MP), Mbuyiseni Ndlozi, has finally broken his silence on the fallout with EFF leader Julius Malema.

Rumors over Ndlozi’s future in the party have swirled since he was absent at the party's elective conference in December.
In an exclusive interview with SABC News, Ndlozi confirms that he was instructed to stay home.
When asked about Ndlozi’s absence at the conference, Malema appeared visibly irritated and rejected attempts to shift the spotlight onto one individual.
“You have his number, and some of you talk to him—call him,” Malema told journalists.
In his interview, Ndlozi now confirms that he was barred from attending the EFF’s National People’s Assembly in December and had been suspended six weeks before the conference.
The suspension was due to reports that he was among the EFF leaders waiting for the right moment to defect to the MK Party.
He described the suspension as irregular, arguing that it was not in line with the party’s constitution.
“I was told to stay at home, since my participation in Parliament and the rest of the activities of the EFF.
“It was very important for me, because they said that the investigation is still ongoing, when it is finished I’ll then be given an opportunity to respond.
I think we can agree that these are very serious allegations,” he said.
He also confirmed that the party accused him of knowing about the former deputy president Floyd Shivambu's plans to leave for the umKhonto weSizwe (MK) Party, but Ndlozi insists it was not his responsibility to inform the leadership.
Ndlozi says his decision to speak out now is purely to clear his name.
