Nearly R250m needed to fix Tshwane sinkholes
Updated | By Bulletin / Jacaranda FM
The City of Tshwane says nearly R250 million is needed to fix 63 sinkholes across the metro.

This comes as another sinkhole has formed at the corner of Burger Avenue and Langebrink Road, cutting off some households and disrupting essential services.
Mayoral committee member for Corporate and Shared Services, Kholofelo Morodi, said that the city is pushing for sinkholes to be classified as a national disaster.
This will allow Tshwane to access emergency funding.
“We can't say how long it will take,” Morodi said.
“We've got a total of 63 sinkholes. There are a lot of factors at play. At this stage, we have tried to make sure that the communities are aware.
“We've tried to make their life a little bit comfortable by making sure that we are cordoning off a sinkhole and make arrangements for them to have access to water and electricity.”
