Nersa approves Electricity Market Advisory Forum
Updated | By Jacaranda FM
The National Energy Regulator South Africa (Nersa) has approved the formation of an Electricity Market Advisory Forum.

The forum will guide the regulator as the country prepares to open a competitive electricity market over the next five years.
It will help finalise key rules and codes and ensure all stakeholders are ready for the changes.
Nersa’s Charles Hlebela says the move marks a major step in strengthening oversight and encouraging broader participation in the electricity sector.
“Members of the forum will be appointed by, and will be accountable to the energy regulator with approved terms of reference. The energy regulator will outline the process of appointing members to the electricity market advisory forum in due course.
“It is anticipated that the forum’s strength will lie in the appropriate plan of institutional representation.”
