New Johannesburg Mayor Dada Morero says he will start his new job on
Monday with a focus on the electricity crisis in the city.

The ANC’s chairperson in Johannesburg was elected on Friday and sworn-in on Saturday.
Morero’s election as first citizen came hours after the previous incumbent Mpho Phalatse was ousted by way of a no-confidence motion.
Morero says he is concerned about the impact of the energy crisis city’s economy.
“We have made the pronouncement that part of the priority is to deal with the energy problem, and we will release a plan in the next few weeks to say these are the practical steps we will take to deal with load shedding.”
Morero says there is also a need to stabilise the city’s finances.
“We will be dealing with stabilising the finances of the city which we do know by now that they are in trouble and also accelerating service delivery such as maintaining robots, fixing potholes, refusal collections and focusing on how to intervene on crime.”
