New mayors for eThekwini, Msunduzi in KZN

The African National Congress (ANC) in KwaZulu-Natal has nominated Mxolisi Kaunda and Mzimkhulu Thobela as the respective mayors of the Ethekwini and Msunduzi metros.

Mayor-elect for the eThekwini (Durban) metro and it is current Transport MEC Mxolisi Kaunda and new Msunduzi (Pietermaritzburg) executive mayor-elect Mzimkhulu Thobela were nominated by the provincial executive committee (PEC).
ANC's provincial secretary Mdumiseni Ntuli made the announcement on Thursday.
This after the axing of the leadership of the two biggest municipalities.

Zandile Gumede Themba Njilo were recalled following poor service delivery in the area.
Gumede came under fire following allegations of a dodgy multi-million rand waste removal tender dating back to 2016. She was arrested and later released on R50,000 bail.
