Nigerian drug mule arrested at OR Tambo airport

The South African Police Service (SAPS) apprehended a Nigerian man at the OR Tambo International Airport on charges of drug trafficking.

The 55-year-old was arrested yesterday after arriving from São Paulo, Brazil, when police intercepted him.
Gauteng Police spokesperson Amanda van Wyk says a medical X-ray showed the suspect had swallowed multiple objects believed to be bullets filled with cocaine.
“The suspect, who is still releasing bullets, is expected to appear before the Kempton Park Magistrates' Court this week.”
This arrest follows last month's seizure of cocaine worth an estimated R7.5 million at the same airport, where two South African drug mules were also arrested.
