Nkabane misses SETA advisory panel deadline
Updated | By Selaki Ledwaba
Parliament's Portfolio Committee on Higher Education has confirmed that Minister Nobuhle Nkabane missed the deadline to provide the names of her advisory panels.

The panels supposedly assisted her with the appointment of the Sector Education and Training Authorities (SETA) board chairs.
The names were withdrawn amid allegations of corruption and nepotism in the appointment process.
Nkabane was given an 11 June deadline by the committee to provide the names of her advisory panel in the appointments of SETA chairs.
“She wrote to us on the 11th that she needed time, this was in response to the letter we wrote to her on the 4th of June 202. In the letter she did not say why she needed more time,” said the committee’s chairperson, Tebogo Letsie.
He said although the minister retracted the recent appointments, the committee still needs answers as to who approved the board chairs.

Letsie said she requested the minister to explain the the delay, however the minister did not manage to provide the reasons.
Meanwhile, on Tuesday, President Cyril Ramaphosa told the media last week that he is still awaiting a report from Nkabane on her conduct during a recent parliamentary appearance regarding SETA board chairs.
