North West police investigate food poisoning case
Updated | By Mmangaliso Khumalo
Police in the North West have opened an inquest investigation into the death of an 8-year-old girl.

It is alleged that the girl and her 10-year-old sister started complaining of stomach aches at school on Friday morning.
The children were taken to a local clinic by the school teachers, where the youngest passed away during the afternoon.
Police spokesperson Adele Myburgh says the 10-year-old sister remains in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at a local hospital.
“Initial investigations indicated that the girls bought snacks at a house in the village and ate it before starting to feel ill," says Myburgh.
Police investigations are continuing.
