Ntuli-Zuma to sue state for 'malicious prosecution'

Former first lady, Nompumelelo Ntuli-Zuma, will be suing the South African Police Services (SAPS) and the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) for malicious prosecution.

This comes after a decision by the NPA last month, not to prosecute her for the alleged poisoning of her then husband, former President Jacob Zuma, in 2015.
Ntuli-Zuma’s lawyer, Ulrich Roux, says Ntuli-Zuma will pursue the civil case after she was told to vacate the Nkandla compound with her three minor children.
"My client will institutie civil action against the South African Police Services (SAPS) as well as the National Prosecuing Authority (NPA) for malicious prosecution," confirms Roux.
He adds her decision follows confirmation from the NPA in September that there was never evidence of a plot to kill Jacob Zuma, as was alleged.
"The damages plan will be based on the based on the damages suffered to intergrity and the severe trauma she endured after having malicious charges hanging over her head for a period of five years," he said.
