The Education Department's Kwazi Mthethwa says they learned of the death from the school's principal.
"As the Department of Education in KZN, we are saddened that a fifth child has passed on, yesterday. We have sent a team to go and meet with the family, and the school that is affected - so that they are able to arrange both a funeral and a memorial service," says Mthethwa.
Mthethwa extended his condolences - on behalf of the department - to the family of the deceased learner, the school, and fellow learners.
