NW police probe woman's ‘vigilante’ murder
Updated | By Lebohang Ndashe
The Acting Provincial Commissioner of the North West, Patrick Asaneng, has ordered a comprehensive investigation into what appears to be a vigilante-style killing, following the discovery of a burnt female body on Wednesday afternoon.

The body was found in an open field along Vryhof Road in the Mmabatho policing precinct, with burnt tyre fragments placed around the neck and waist—a method often associated with vigilante attacks.
The police have not yet identified the victim, and the motive behind the killing remains unclear.
A formal investigation is underway, and law enforcement has urged the public to come forward with any information that might assist in resolving the case.
Asaneng strongly condemned acts of mob attack.
“Extra judicial killings, regardless of the complaints or allegations of wrongful conduct, threaten the authority of the state and the credibility of the entire criminal justice system to maintain public order and to enforce the law. Barbarism and brutality should never be excused, countenanced and be justified under any circumstances and the police must act swiftly and decisively to restore public trust, confidence and respect for the rule of law by all,” he said.
He further warned that acts of vigilantism would not be tolerated.
