During his address at the G20 Youth Dialogue, at the University of Limpopo on Thursday, Nzimande stressed that while identifying and acknowledging challenges is crucial, it is equally important for the youth to focus on finding solutions.

The minister encouraged youth to have scientific mind.

"To have a scientific mind, it means that you are solution-oriented rather than problem-oriented," he said.

"There are people who are very eloquent in just mentioning problems. What about this problem? What are you saying about that problem?"

Nzimande lamented the ongoing conflict between countries, such as Israel and Iran, and the use new technologies; like weapons driven by Artificial Intelligence; against each other.

"How do you hit an army general sitting at home with his family in this instance? They use artificial intelligence. So, part of the struggle we have is that we need to use science to solve problems rather than to use science to kill people."

The event, which was attended by students and the provincial education MEC, aims to create a platform for young people to participate in shaping the country's future in science, technology, and innovation through policy.
