The three police officers’ bodies were among five that were recovered from the Hennops River in Centurion earlier this week.

The South African Police Service (SAPS) in the Free State announced the decision by the provincial commissioner, Baile Motswenyane, to grant the trio official funerals next week.
Constables Cebekhulu Linda, Boipelo Senoge, and Keamogetswe Buys disappeared last Thursday while travelling from Bloemfontein to their deployment in Limpopo.

Senoge will be laid to rest on Thursday in Mangaung, Linda’s funeral will be held on Friday, while Buys will be laid to rest in Thaba Nchu on Saturday.
“In tribute to the dedication and service of the late constables, a memorial service will be held on Tuesday, 06 May 2025, in Bloemfontein. The memorial service will be held at Bobbiespark, 02 Hannah Street, Bloemfontein, and will start at noon,” said Free State police spokesperson Motantsi Mokhele.
According to Senoge’s family, she had planned an elaborate celebration for her birthday, which was just days away, when she lost her life.
On Wednesday, police divers recovered the white VW Polo that the officers were travelling in.
Addressing the media, National Police Commissioner Fannie Masemola said it appeared the car had capsized before crashing through the barrier on the N1 and falling down the embankment into the river.
Masemola said the car could hold crucial clues about the officers’ final moments.
Among the items retrieved along with the car were a reflector jacket bearing the name of Constable Linda, a handbag, and an identity document.
Giving a brief update on Saturday, police confirmed that the back of the car had been found in the river.
Investigations are continuing.
