Online applications set to kick off

The Gauteng Department of Education says it's all systems go for the start of online applications for the 2018 academic year.

The Department's Oupa Bodibe says applications will start at 8:00 and close at midnight on June 12.
"Parents can log on this website to apply for either Grade 1 or Grade 8. We have noted that some parents have already applied before the stipulated admissions period," Bodibe says.
Any online application submitted before the admission period is open would be invalid and parents would need to resubmit their applications.

"However, applications for re-enrolments for Grade 2-7 and Grade 9-11 started on the 18th of April so those applications remain valid," Bodibe says.
He stresses that parents need to apply on time to avoid disappointment.
"We have arranged with public libraries to assist parents without internet access to apply."
Admission centres that have been established in the various districts across Gauteng will operate during business hours from Mondays to Fridays.
Parents can also call the department's contact centre on 0800 000 789.
