Our responsibility is to South Africans, says Ramaphosa
Updated | By Sibahle Motha
President Cyril Ramaphosa has dispelled the notion that he does not care about ordinary South Africans.

Ramaphosa's comments come in light of the xenophobic attacks in Gauteng earlier this month which claimed the lives of 12 people.
The violence included the looting of foreign-owned shops and led to diplomatic tensions between South African and several countries in Southern Africa.

Ramaphosa, addressing the South African Democratic Teachers Union (Sadtu) national congress in Nasrec on Wednesday, disputed reports that he and the government do not care about the people of South Africa.
This after criticism was levelled against him for apologising to countries such as Nigeria.
"We've also said we are as a nation putting our people first. We want South Africans to have a sense that our country is right there ready to take care of their needs.
"Because one of the issues being raised is that it does seem like we are not taking due care of South Africans and we say: our responsibility is to South Africans to create jobs for South Africans to make sure South Africans get the best services," he said.
