Parliament vows to 'monitor' EC flood funds
Updated | By Cliff Shiko
Parliament has vowed to keep a close eye on the spending of funds meant to rebuild the schools in the Eastern Cape following the deadly floods.

The natural disaster damaged roads, schools, health facilities and left more than 90 people dead and some 4,300 homeless.
The cost of the damage to the infrastructure is estimated to be around R4 billion.
The floods have since claimed the lives of nearly 100 people in the province alone.
The chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Education, Sciences and Creative Industries, Makhi Feni, briefed the media in Cape Town on Monday.
"Funds that will be used for infrastructure will be closely monitored, working together with the Office of the Auditor General, and quarterly progress reports will be submitted.
"We want to make sure that there is no money that is being spent unaccounted for,
"There is a tendency to tick the box without providing quality, and also just to check in terms of what were the causes," he told reporters.
