Passengers stranded amid Polokwane flight cancellations

Limpopo Premier Dr Phophi Ramathuba has apologised to
passengers affected by Airlink flights challenges at the Polokwane Gateway
Airport.

This was after the Gateway Airport Authority Limited (GAAL) suspended air traffic and navigation services on 1 April due to flights' inability to take off and land in Polokwane.
GAAL chief executive officer Mokgadi Matli told the premier, during her visit on Wednesday, that the ATNS suspension was uplifted on Tuesday.
Addressing the media, Ramathuba said the airport’s woes were not over.
“We still face a long-term challenge, the challenge that when the weather is bad like today, this particular area becomes very worse that the pilots are not able to see the runaways, so they can't land hence you need this instrument, the landing system, the ILS which they need to procure," said Ramathuba.
The premier further said the guidelines, which help pilots to land, were not developed in time for approval by aviation authorities.
She confirmed that the procedures have been approved and would be valid for five years.
