Patricia de Lille’s husband dies after long illness

The husband of Public Works and Infrastructure Minister Patricia de Lille has died.

Edwin de Lille died on Sunday night after a long illness.
The family announced the news in a statement on Monday morning.
The De Lille's were married for 49 years and had one child Alistair de Lille.
In paying tribute to her lifelong partner, the minister said Edwin was a loving father and husband who supported her throughout her political career giving her the freedom to fully pursue her work in serving the country.
“Our marriage was built on respect. Eddie was a true partner in the sense of the word and never stopped me from following my convictions.
“There was respect and support until his final days and I will miss him dearly.”
Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema and leader of One South Africa Movement Mmusi Maimane were among the first to send condolences to De Lille.
