[PICTURES] 4 lanes closed in N3 pile-up
Two people were critically injured in a multi-vehicle pile-up on the N3 near Bedfordview on Thursday.
Ekurhuleni emergency services closed four lanes during the rescue operations.
Nine cars and two trucks were involved in the pile up.
The cause of the crash is unclear.
"We haven't yet established as to how many patients that are being here are accounted for but we can confirm that we've got two of them that are in critical condition," says Ekurhuleni emergency services spokesperson William Ntladi.
"The rest are suffering from minor to light injuries."
Police were on the scene to investigate.
"After we have removed all the patients on the scene then the investigation will be able to commence," Ntladi adds.
