"Each crime scene is considered to be a "holy ground" and contamination thereof is totally discouraged and unacceptable as that hampers successful investigation," says police spokesperson Kelebogile Moleko.
Parliament's Portfolio Committee on Police has added its voice, calling on the police to urgently address the spike in cash-in-transit robberies.
SAPS have reported at least 33 heists took place during 2016/17.
"Bystanders are urged to avoid getting closer to cash in transit robbery crime scenes due to the likelihood of further explosion that may cause serious and life threatening injuries."
