Police probe discovery of man's body near Polokwane

Police in Limpopo are investigating the murder of an unknown male victim whose remains were discovered in the bushes in Ga-Mashahane, outside Polokwane.

According to police reports the body of the victim was found half naked tight with a rope and cable tie on his hands, with visible injuries.


“The gruesome discovery was made by a passer-by female person on Wednesday, 25 June 2025, at approximately 15:30.” said the provincial police spokesperson, Hlulane Mashaba.


“On their arrival at the scene,  the police found an unknown body of a half-naked male victim suspected to be in his forties.”


Mashaba said the motive for the killing is unknown at this stage.


“Anyone with information that can help Police to identify the victim or who knows what happened to the victim can contact the crime stop number.”


Meanwhile, North West police are investigating the discovery of a woman's charred body in Mahikeng. 


Remnants of Tyres were found around the deceased, suggesting possible "necklacing" -- a method used in mob attacks which involves the use of tyres to set the victim alight.
