Power failure affects Rand Water pumping capacity
Updated | By Mmangaliso Khumalo
Rand Water says a power failure at its Zwartkopjes Booster Pumping Station on Wednesday evening affected the pumping of water to various reservoirs in Johannesburg and Ekurhuleni.

The pump station was switched on after the completion of maintenance work as part of Rand Water's 5-week-long maintenance program across various municipalities.
"On Wednesday after 6pm, Rand Water experienced a power failure at the Zwartkopjes Booster Pumping Station which affected pumping. Eskom technicians managed to find and repair the fault," says Rand Water spokesperson Makenosi Maroo.
However, the power outage led to the delay in pumping of water to various areas.
Affected reservoirs include the Forest Hill, Benoni, Meredale and Yeoville reservoirs.
"All areas within the City of Johannesburg and City of Ekurhuleni supplied from the Zwartkopjes Pumping Station and from the mentioned reservoirs will be affected," adds Maroo.
