Pressure on Ramaphosa ahead of Sunday address to nation

As the country awaits President Cyril Ramaphosa's response to allegations of police corruption, there are calls for the presidency to act sooner rather than later.

KZN's top cop, Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, claims there's political and criminal interference in the police force.
He's alleged that Police Minister Senzo Mchunu and other top officials used their influence to interfere in high-profile investigations.
The presidency says Ramaphosa is holding consultations and will address the nation on Sunday.
On Thursday, ActionSA members picketed outside the KZN police headquarters, calling for urgent action over what they've described as a national crisis.
"The minister lied before Parliament's Portfolio Committee,” said the party’s KZN leader, Zwakele Mncwago.
“We have evidence now that the minister misled the committee when he said he did not know one of the culprits, and now he admits that he knows this individual as a comrade. There are enough grounds for the president to take action against the minister."
On Thursday, the MK Party opened a criminal case against Police Minister Senzo Mchunu and deputy national police commissioner Shadrack Sibiya at Pretoria's Brooklyn Police Station.
This is for perjury and defeating the ends of justice following allegations made by Mkhwanazi.
The Democratic Alliance also laid criminal charges against Mchunu in Cape Town on Thursday.
The party has accused the minister of lying to Parliament earlier this year when he told the Portfolio Committee on Police that he did not know North West businessman Brown Mogotsi.
