Pretoria online drug syndicate to appear in court
Updated | By Cliff Shiko
At least six suspects have been arrested in Pretoria for running an online website in which they traded with and distributed counterfeit and illicit performance-enhancing drugs, scheduled medicines, steroids, and stimulants.

Gauteng police spokesperson Amanda van Wyk says one of the products sold online was a "fat burner" that contains Dimethylphenethylamine, an isomer of methamphetamine (commonly known as crystal meth or Tik).
The three men and three women will appear in court later this week.
The operation was conducted jointly with the South African Health Products Regulatory Authority (SAHPRA), the South African Institute for Drug-Free Sport, and the Financial Intelligence Centre
"They face multiple charges related to the contravention of the Drugs and Drug Trafficking Act, Medicines and Related Substances Act, and the Counterfeit Goods Act" said Van Wyk
"Investigations, that included a forensic analysis, revealed that these products contain prohibited substances.
"During the arrests, the team seized a substantial quantity of counterfeit and illicit performance-enhancing drugs, steroids, scheduled medicine, and stimulants as well as electronic devices."
