Priscillah Mabelane appointed as chair of Eskom Transmission board

Eskom has appointed Sasol executive Priscillah Mabelane as the chairperson of the National Transmission Company of South Africa (NTCSA) board.

President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier said the struggling power utility would be broken down into three entities, namely Generation, Distribution and Transmission, as part of Eskom’s turnaround plan.
The Transmission company has already registered and received approval for the requisite licenses from the National Energy Regulator of South Africa (NERSA).
The utility says the appointment of the Board completes another critical milestone in the operationalisation of NTCSA.
“The appointment of the NTCSA Board takes Eskom a step closer to unlocking the potential that comes with the planned transformation of the electricity industry,” said Eskom board chairperson Mteto Nyati.
"We thank all the individuals who raised their hands to guide Eskom into a future where South Africans have reliable, affordable and environmentally friendly supply of power.”
Other board members include former Denel CFO Carmen Le Grange, former Telkom COO Brian Armstrong, Energy Economist Lungile Mashele, and MTN group executive Anu Sing.
