Probe into death of man 'locked up' at Shoprite store
Updated | By Cliff Shiko
Gauteng police have confirmed the death of a man at a Shoprite supermarket in Ratanda, Heidelberg.

The 33-year-old man and his friend were locked at the back of the store after being accused of shoplifting by security officers on Sunday.
However, the community members claim the man died after being kept in a cold storage room overnight.
Police spokesperson Noxolo Kweza says they are investigating a case of assault as well as an inquest docket.
"This follows an alleged incident in which two men accused of shoplifting were locked in the back of the store.
"One of the men, a 33-year-old, during closing time complained of stomach aches, paramedics were called, and he was declared dead on the scene."
On Monday, private security fired rubber bullets to disperse angry community members who damaged the entrance of the store and a car.
