Pupil finds human skeleton at Alex primary school
Police are investigating the origin of a human skeleton found of the grounds of MC Weiler Primary School in Alexandra, north of Johannesburg.
The remains of the unknown female were found wrapped in a blanket under a classroom container on Thursday.
The gruesome discovery was made by one of the school’s pupils when he went to fetch a football struck under a classroom container.
Police spokesperson Tshwarelo Mabulane says the cause of the woman’s death is being investigated.
"According to the principal, it is alleged that the deceased used to sleep by the school as she was homeless and was sometimes fed by the school since she had nowhere to go. The skeleton will undergo DNA testing for identification."
