R21 closed after fatal accident

The R21 has been closed off in both directions after a collision involving two trucks and five cars this morning.

Ekurhuleni Emergency Services say two people have been killed in the collision while three others, who sustained minor injuries, have been transported to hospital.

The highway has been closed off between the Atlas Road offramp and the offramp leading into O.R. Tambo International.

Emergency Services have advised motorists to avoid the R21 near the airport as it could be closed for a while.

The cause of the accident has not been determined but authorities are investigating.
