R21 closed for traffic

Traffic on the Albertina Sisulu Freeway, also known as the R21, has been completely closed for traffic following a crash during the early hours of Friday morning.

According to Ekurhuleni Metro Police's Kobeli Mokheseng, the road has been closed as a result of live electrical wires that are strewn across the freeway.
"A truck was traveling on the R21 in a southern direction when it crashed into an electrical pylon," Mokheseng says.
He says only the driver of the truck was injured and was transferred to a hospital in Tembisa.
Metro police are now waiting on Eskom to cut electricity supply before they can clear the scene.
"We are waiting for Eskom. We are not sure how long it will take before the road is re-opened but we will keep motorists updated," he says.
The exact cause of the crash is not known and will be investigated by police.
