Updated | By Sibahle Motha
President Cyril Ramaphosa is set to receive a first report from government’s “fusion centre” next week.

The multidisciplinary centre was set up to strengthen the fight against Covid-19 corruption and will see various law enforcement agencies work together to curb the mismanagement of funds.
Minister in the Presidency Jackson Mthembu, speaking during a media briefing on Wednesday’s Cabinet meeting, says the centre will report back to Ramaphosa every six weeks.

Law enforcement agencies who form part of the “fusion centre” include the Hawks, the Special Investigative Unit (SIU) and the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA).
“All this information from the various law enforcement agencies is brought together so that indeed they can in a collaborative way deal with any malefencese and any fraudulent behaviours that emanate from the procurement of PPEs as directed by President Cyril Ramaphosa,” said Mthembu.
